MUST-HAVE WARDROBE BASICS TO KICK OFF 2019
Fashion15 January 2019
Fashion can be quite overwhelming sometimes, can’t it?!
It’s one of the reasons my personal styling clients book me – they just don’t know how to cut through all of the trends and shapes and styles and stores out there.
If that feels familiar, let’s take a step back and start with some basics.
Every wardrobe needs some fundamental building blocks. These might not be the most exciting pieces in your wardrobe, but often they are the pieces that “make” your wardrobe function as it needs to.
So to help kickstart your style for 2019, here are five pieces that will make your wardrobe function at its best;
Slip – The Warehouse basic slip $15.00 | Stripe tee – Jeanswest “Noah” twist back tee $49.99 | Neutral sandal – Merchant 1948 “Tempah” sandal $169.90 | Button up shirt – Max “Leah” button up shirt $99.99 | T-shirt bra – Bras ‘n’ Things full cup nude bra $59.99
- The basic slip
Got a dress that is just a bit see-through, or sits a little too low over your bust? Or feels a little clingy? Then a simple slip is all you need to make it really work.
- A Stripe tee.
It practically goes with anything. Jeans/denim shorts. A floral skirt, even layered up under a dress or jumpsuit.
Just find the shape and fit that works best for you.
- A neutral sandal.
It can be heeled, flat or a wedge, but if you can get a neutral that blends with your skintone well, this shoe will work with everything in your wardrobe.
- A button-up shirt.
One of the most under-utilised pieces in your wardrobe. Look for linen, or cotton (or even denim if that’s your style). It can be worn buttoned up and tucked in, tied over a dress or skirt, worn open like a lightweight jacket or wrapped around your waist like a belt.
- A good t-shirt bra.
It might not be sexy, but man it makes clothes look good! Sometimes a foundation garment can make or break an outfit. A great t-shirt bra will create lift, support and smooth lines under any top or dress.
I promise you, once you get the basics right, the rest is so much easier!
Until Next Time,
Happy Shopping
