Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning is finally here! Tom Cruise is back in the shoes of his most iconic character, Ethan Hunt, to save the world from ultimate AI destruction. As the title implies, this might just be his last mission, and honestly, at 62-years-old, I think he deserves the break.

If you’ve been a Mission Impossible fan from day one, this will be a nostalgic trip down memory lane with lots of flashbacks to the previous seven Mission Impossible films, connecting all of Hunt’s wild adventures over the last 30 years to solve the final puzzle. If you’ve never seen a Mission Impossible film before, those flashbacks are a handy recap to fill you in on all that you’ve missed.

In the first Mission Impossible movie way back in 1996, Ethan Hunt was spared a lifelong prison sentence in exchange for accepting a death-defying mission on behalf of the government. Not much has changed in the last 30 years. In The Final Reckoning, Hunt’s challenge, should he choose to accept it (spoiler: he hasn’t got much choice), is to destroy an AI system known as The Entity, which has grown powerful enough to take control of the world’s nuclear forces and is set to destroy all of humanity. With a world war impending, and the fate of literally every human being in the world in his hands, Hunt knows that it’s a lose-lose situation, but he takes on the task nonetheless.

From a submarine mission that’ll have you holding your breath to wild mid-air flights between planes, this big-budget film ticks all the classic action boxes. You’ll see tonnes of action, and of course just as many impossible near misses.

Tom Cruise is known for his desire to perform all his own stunts, which makes the action sequences of this film all the more impressive. During filming, Tom Cruise was seen holding onto the wings of an open-cockpit aircraft as it flew upside down. Reminder: he’s 62 years old. Wild!

Highly recommend you stock up on the popcorn and snacks, go easy on the drinks, and get the comfiest seats available. This film is almost three hours of non-stop action and you don’t want to miss a thing!
