I am penning this blog on an absolute stunner of a day (hopefully the same can be said for when you are reading this). A blue-sky day, in fact, with the sun unhindered by clouds and carrying a delicious degree of warmth.

A girlfriend is talking about packing away her winter clothes (not too fast, I say), and my husband is ensuring our garden has a good array of salad vegetables planted (never enough, I say).

It’s certainly a time when nature can again take a bow, with new leaf growth and beautiful blossoms providing their seasonal thrill.

Such sunny days seem synonymous with cheerful pops of colour. I’m zoned in on the zest of life and feeling attracted to bright bursts of colour. There’s no need to be in the great outdoors to find colourful inspiration. There’s plenty within our stores.

I’m probably also fixating on splashes of colour as this week I have been visiting homes likely to feature in one of NZ House & Garden magazine’s house tours. (Held annually, they showcase beautiful homes and are a major fundraiser for the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation.)

One of the houses I visited, that’s stuck in my mind, was dressed with mid-century furnishings and lots of art. Colour was very much alive in that house and it was glorious.

If you’re thinking it’s time to inject colour then you will be thrilled to know that most of the product I have featured in this blog is on special. There are slashed prices to go with those colour splashes in many of our Westgate Lifestyle stores.

This tells me now is a good time to shop! Go on… it will brighten up your day.
