The MetService weather forecast for Auckland is showing a few sunny faces and temperatures in the mid-20s. After 100 or so days of hardship, let’s take this as a win and say summer is on the way. Along with the warming weather comes our opportunity to re-acquaint ourselves with parts of New Zealand beyond the parameters of our city. So, here’s to freedom to roam, and all the delights that summer days bring.

We have had plenty of locked-down time to consider what our home base may need to increase our enjoyment of those sunny days. It may be that it’s time to upgrade the trusty sun umbrella, the lounging outside furniture, the exterior lighting (fixed, candle or lantern) or the crockery used for bbqs and general alfresco dining (love the bright colours of the ones on offer at Briscoes). In fact, there’s plenty of splashes of colour out there in the shops and that’s a cherry sight. Thanks to Rebel Sport you don’t have to go far to update the activewear and swimwear either; and perhaps now’s the time to purchase a juicer to make the most of that delicious summer fruit – Westgate Lifestyle has that covered too.

In our hemisphere the arrival of summer does, of course, go hand-in-hand with Christmas shopping time (much more on that in my next blogs). Thinking swimming, I went shopping for beach towels, which may well end up under the Christmas tree as our supply is looking a little weary. I actually found some cool poncho options in amongst the towels.
