ACCESSIBLE CHANGEROOM | SYLVIA PARK

Sylvia Park is committed to providing excellent service to all our customers, including those with accessible needs. We are proud to introduce Auckland’s newest Accessible Changeroom at Sylvia Park.

Helen Ronald, Sylvia Park Asset Manager says “We are trying to always improve our offer at Sylvia Park, including how accessible we are to all members of our community, and in the past few years, we were aware that an accessible changeroom was definitely required at our site to ensure an inclusive experience to those in need.

We were really excited last year to find a location that we felt would work for people who require the specialised facilities of an accessible changeroom and then worked with the team at Community Living and our own designers, to create a welcoming space that has everything required in one location. We also had assistance from the Active Health team with the amenities.

This is a truly inclusive space for the accessible community, no memberships required – anyone with an accessibility requirement will be able to access this space, enabling our community to relax at Sylvia Park from morning to the evening.”

The new facility includes:

• Height adjustable accessible toilet and basin
• Height adjustable accessible bed
• Complete shower with overhead hoist (for safety reasons, your own sling is required)
• Sharps disposable
• Bottle wash

The changeroom has 24-hour access and is fully secure.

Access is provided via a call-button at the door, alerting security who will remotely unlock the door.

The Accessible Changeroom is available to those with high accessible needs only and is not open to the general public.

Maintainence

After each use, the changeroom will be inspected and cleaned by a professional cleaning team.
